Forget what you know about glitter, it isn’t for teeny boppers anymore! Glitter has made a comeback, but in a more mature way.
Urban Decay is making some serious cash with their Heavy Metal Glitter Liner selling for $18 per 0.25 oz bottle!
Even if you buy cheaper brands you can still run into the same problem; too much liquid and not enough glitter.
Here are step-by-step instructions in order to make your very own glitter liner!
You will need the following:
- loose glitter (Make sure it is cosmetic glitter! You can buy these from any beauty store and it’s usually pretty cheap.)
- Sally Girl Sparkle Effects Gel Adhesive for glitter (it is only 99 cents!)
Something to mix the glitter and glue on. You will want a clean/sanitary surface to do this. (I use an artist mixing palette, but you can use whatever you can find laying around the house as long as you clean it well.)
- An eyeliner brush to apply the gel/glitter liner
How you make your glitter liner is entirely up to you. I recommend making it as you go though. It seems like it could be a pain, but it literally takes no time at all to make and there’s no way to preserve it for a decent length of time.
All you have to do is pour some glitter onto your mixing tray and add the gel adhesive. The amount and consistency is entirely up to you. I prefer to use less glitter and add as I mix; it’s easier to add glitter than to remove it! I also use the end of my brush (part without the hair) to mix the glitter and gel adhesive together.
If there’s any excess glitter liner left after I’ve applied my makeup I simply gather it onto my fingertips and rub it into my hair for some extra sparkle.
